There is now a fast-food restaurant in town where one can order without uttering a single word.

The KFC restaurant in Toa Payoh is the first to be operated entirely by people who are deaf.

The kitchen is equipped with light indicators to alert the staff when the food is cooked.

And even the ceiling is fitted with different coloured lights.

Blue means the manager is gathering all staff.

And red is for emergency situations.

Customers also have a specially designed menu from which to place their orders.

And though the entire ordering process may be a little longer, customers appear to be very understanding.

CEO of KFC Management, Michael Gian, said: The ordering process may take a bit longer but everything else is the same.

The unique restaurant was officially launched by Mrs S R Nathan.

KFC said it has three other branches in Malaysia operated by the deaf.
